Motion with Notice: Fulford-Ganges to Vesuvius multi use pathway Advocacy (B. Webster)
Recommendation
[At the January 28, 2026 Transportation Committee meeting, the Committee considered the CRD Board's referral of the following Motion with Notice from the Salt Spring Island Local Community Commission (SSI LCC):
"That the Salt Spring Island Local Community Commission request that the Capital Regional District Board consider advancing the trail designs of the Fulford-Ganges to Vesuvius multi use pathway designs out of Salt Spring Island Regional Trail Feasibility Study from 2027 to 2026 in the Five-Year Financial Plan."
At the Transportation Committee meeting, CRD staff indicated that regional parks do not have the capacity to advance the trail design work in 2026. However, the SSI LCC could advance the trail design work as part of their 2026 work plan. As making a recommendation to the SSI LCC on their work plan is outside the mandate of the Transportation Committee, staff were directed to report back to the Commission suggesting that they put forward a new recommendation to the CRD Board indicating that the SSI LCC would take on the responsibility of advancing the trail design work in 2026.
The Transportation Committee's consensus (without objection) was to report back to the CRD Board with NO RECOMMENDATION.]
There is no recommendation from the Transportation Committee.
